如果醫生告訴你，只剩下半年的生命時，你會怎麼做？美國一名29歲女子決定將生命權掌控在自己手裡，她舉家搬遷到允許「尊嚴死亡」的奧勒岡州，自訂今年11月1日、老公生日後兩天結束生命。

梅納德（Brittany Maynard）去年底結束婚禮後不久開始莫名頭痛，今年初被診斷出罹患腦瘤，恐活不過半年。向來樂觀積極的梅納德不打算坐以待斃，更想死得有尊嚴，她和家人搬至波特蘭市，因為當地允許她在生命末期服用醫師處方藥物結束痛苦。

在生命開始倒數時，梅納德和親友四處旅遊，去她最想去的地方，留下她所有快樂的回憶。梅納德說等到11月1日那天，她會「躺在和老公的床上，聽著最愛的音樂，平靜死去。」（桂家齊／綜合外電報導）
