有關於刷機的問題請高手們解惑

我有一隻已經用得很久很習慣的舊款智慧型手機，因為幾日前有聽一位同事建議說要我拿去『刷機』.......說什麼可已騰出很多安裝程式的空間也可以讓手機的運行變的比較順也比較快更可以讓我那隻舊款的智慧型手機可以將安裝的程式放在記憶卡而不是手機的記憶體中。
以下是我的疑問：
1.刷機除了提升安卓的版本之外還有什麼特點嗎?可以跟我聽說的一樣讓手機變得不一樣?
2.我的手機是索尼易利信的X10 mini PRO一樣也可以刷嗎?高雄又哪邊有在刷機?行情大概都在多少價位呢?
