標系列之中，與內建NAND快閃記憶體的2.5吋WD黑標硬碟兩相呼應，讓玩家有更多種選擇 。此Ultraslim系列2.5吋硬碟機如其名，特色便是僅有5mm厚度，相當纖薄！此外不同於 競爭對手，WD Ultraslim系列2.5吋硬碟配置了「SFF-8784 Edge」的接頭規格，而不是標 準常見的SATA介面，為求極致輕薄而率先採用，也算是另一個頗具特色之處。 WD5000MPCK外型採2.5吋Form Factor尺寸封裝，厚度僅5mm，其內建500GB儲存容量，為單 碟500GB的碟片規格，此外還有16MB快取記憶體容量，連接埠採新規格SFF-8784介面，透 過轉接線材可對應SATA 6Gb/s介面，馬達轉速為5400rpm，官方給出的傳輸效能為145MB/s ，效能以2吋半硬碟機種來說已相當有看頭。 Slim系列的效能出 色也算不太上是意料之外的事，畢竟現在7mm技術也漸成熟，各家廠商早先苦心研究的微 縮技術也到了收穫的時候，所以並不太令人驚訝，反倒是5mm厚度的WD UltraSlim系列 WD5000MPCK在效能方面也頗有水準，循序讀寫竟也有接近120MB/s的效能等級，甚至還有 部分測試結果比WD Slim系列的1TB型號WD10SPCX來得好，完全顛覆了在測試之前推測的 WD UltraSlim系列5mm機種會因為機身力求至薄而犧牲些許效能表現的想像，測試結果真 是有些好得令人有些意外！反觀9.5mm的藍標標準款500GB WD5000BEVT在規格、效能都無 法與新款WD Slim系列、WD UltraSlim系列等型號相提並論，也算是新舊交替的結果了。
