雖然Sony在MWC 2015開展首日確定將針對旗下手機、平板產品陸續釋出Android 5.0版本更新，不過後續卻證實僅Xperia Z系列機種才會確保獲得升級機會，其他中階、入門機種可能就只有部分新機能預載新版作業系統，例如此次一同揭曉的Xperia M4 Aqua。

根據Snoy Mobile近期向使用者說明內容，表示Android 5.0版本更新僅針對Xperia Z系列機種提供，包含Xperia M、Xperia C、Xperia E與Xperia T系列現行銷售機種目前都無法獲得升級，僅此次在MWC 2015同時揭曉的Xperia M4 Aqua將預載Android 5.0作業系統，但更早之前發表的Xperia E4與台灣地區銷售的Xperia E4g則僅搭載Android 4.4版本作業系統。

至於此次僅針對旗艦機種提供升級，而未像過往對應全系列機種，Sony方面並未具體做說明，或許有可能與市場銷售策略相關，以及可能與Android 5.0作業系統本身影響有關，但目前均無法做確認。
