B0dae8285b41d73d14a534e04d14d3b6 Google的Project Loon旨在利用飄飛在平流層的熱氣球為偏遠地區提供高速而穩定的無線網路，並利用算法保持各個氣球間的間隔距離，確保其不存在覆蓋盲區。這聽上去或許有點科幻，不過今天Google宣布，Project Loon將和各地運營商服務，利用運營商的頻譜為偏遠地區提供無線網絡，這讓Project Loon離現實又近了一步。

事實上，Google X 項目的負責人 Astro Teller 本來準備專門為 Project Loon 從大公司手中買一個頻譜，然而Larry Page 反對這樣做，認為這樣遭到運營商極大的阻礙。的確，這相當於表明 Google 將直接和全球的運營商競爭，然而這並非 Project Loon 的本意。

因此，Google 決定把提供無線網絡的熱氣球租給各國的運營商，使熱氣球飛過哪國上空便使用哪國的網絡。這樣對於運營商來說，最大化的利用了他們現有的頻譜，解決了在偏遠地區建立基站太貴的問題，同時也達到了Google X 為全世界更多地區提供快速而穩定的無線網絡的目的。
